My vacation started on 24th Nov night... My family and I took a bus at night from Pudu to Hatyai... We stopped at the Hatyai bus station early in the morning and straightaway caught a bus to Phuket... We stayed one night at the Patong Beach.. At this time of the year, it rains almost everyday in Phuket... We got soaked wet while walking to catch the bus to town...
From Phuket, we continued our journey to Bangkok... The bus ride was about 12hours... Thailand's express bus service is slightly different than M'sia's... They actually provide you dinner as in you go to a restaurant for dinner, there's cake for snacks, bottled water, box drink and a hot coffee to wake you up in the morning...
My aunt picked us at the Bangkok bus station... We went back to her house to freshen up and straightaway went out for sight-seeing... We sat a ferry along the Chao-Praya river... And we also hired a private boat to visit a small island, Koh Kret which was famous for pottery... At night, my aunt brought us to visit the Memorial of the King's sister death... (err...something like that)
The next day, my uncle brought us to his house in Nakhon Pathon... His house is by the river so it is very cooling at this time of the year... We went to a floating market near his place... He also brought us to visit a wax museum...
On 29th Nov night, we took an express bus from Bangkok to Chiengmai... We reached Chiengmai bout 7am and started looking for a comfortable hostel... As soon as we checked in, we signed up for a package to visit the tribes in Chiengmai... One of the main tribe was the long-neck tribe, Lisu and err... i can't remember at the moment... In Chiengmai, there's a weekend market which they have on every Sunday... They sell lots of food, things, handicrafts, etc...
The next day, my mum saw a package that includes jungle trekking, elephant riding and rafting... So my sis, dad and I signed up for it... I enjoyed the elephant riding the most!!! I've sat on an elephant before in Ayutthaya a long time ago but that was less adventurous because the elephant was just walking around the city... This on the other hand, walked through the jungle, across the river... and i even got the chance to sit on the elephant's head halfway of the journey, which was both exciting and scary... There's no pic of the rafting cause we have to keep our camera to prevent it getting wet...
So happy...
On the 3rd Dec morning, we took a bus down to Sukhothai... Sukhothai is the 1st ancient city of Thailand... We went to their Historical Park and explored the park by bicycle...
From Sukhothai, we took a bus to Phitnasulok to take another bus to Nongkhai... Nongkhai is the border to Laos... My uncle has a land there so he wanted us to visit the place... We also crossed the border to Laos and headed to the capital, Vientiene... To me, there's nothing much to see in Vientiene... Just to see how Laos is like...
When we returned to Bangkok, my dad went home 1st because of his work... My mum, sis and I continued to stay another week... It was a more relaxed time because we just move around Bangkok, shopping... On the 10th of Dec, my uncle brought us to an island, Koh Samet... It was a nice island... Clear water and white sand... The seafood at the pier were cheap too... We stayed there for a night...
The one shopping place that you shouldn't miss is the Chatuchak Weekend Market... There's ALOT of things there... You can find almost everything at that market : clothes, pets, food, books, etc... I doubt anyone can finish 'exploring' the market in one day...
On the 14th Dec noon, we finally took the train from Bangkok to Hatyai... and a bus from Hatyai back to KL... It was a really long and tiring vacation... And my butt hurts from the many many, long long bus rides... ;P
My cousins, Boom and Beam...
Pardon my "kelam-kabut-ness" because i'm just typing whatever i'm thinking and can rememba while my butt is still glued on the chair... ;)
